Welcome to Weston Blokart Club (WBC)
WBC exists to promote the sport of Blokart Sailing in the West and South-West of the UK. The club is based at Weston Windzone, a dedicated area for wind powered craft at Uphill Beach, at the south end of Weston-super-Mare beach in North Somerset.
Blokart Sailing is a form of land sailing using a compact, one design, three-wheel kart powered by a sail. The sails are of various sizes, their use depending on the wind conditions and the experience of the sailor. The sport is enjoyed all year round by all ages from 8 to 80 and is great fun for all the family. The kit can be packed into a tailored bag that will fit into the boot of most cars and weighs around 30Kg.
Blokart Sailing is very easy to learn and is a sport enjoyed by all ages from 8 to 80 and is great fun for all the family. As a Blokart is steered via ‘handlebars’ and controlled by a single rope called a ‘sheet’, the sport is accessible to people with various disabilities, including wheelchair users. Within a short time of starting to sail everyone has ‘The Blokart Grin’ hence the club motto ‘Who Dares Grins’
The goal of WBC is to introduce new participants to the sport of Blokart Sailing, improve the skills of more experienced sailors and exchange information on kit and techniques in a friendly and fun environment.
It’s all about having fun! And the GRIN !
